Hearing in Supreme Court on the arrangement of Banke Bihari temple

The management committee of Banke Bihari Ji Maharaj Temple in Mathura has challenged the new ordinance of the Uttar Pradesh government – ‘Shri Banke Bihari Ji Temple Trust Ordinance, 2025’ – in the Supreme Court. This ordinance hands over the entire system of the temple and the administration to the trust of the state government. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal argued that the temple has a fund amount of ₹ 400 crore, but he was not even made a party in the case. The court had ordered the deposit of ₹ 300 crore, whose application has been filed tomorrow.

Through this ordinance, the temple has been taken under the allegation without any disturbance. This is a private temple, not like government public temples.

What did Justice Suryakant comment?

Justice Suryakant said that this matter is related to the development of charity and pilgrimage area, go there once, will understand. The administrator currently is only temporary (AD HOC).

What did the Supreme Court ask the Central and State Government?

How many temples across the country have been taken under the legislative manner so far – let us know about it.

The next hearing on this case will be next week
