Heavy rain and CM Dhami in Uttarakhand
Many districts of Uttarakhand are raining torrential rains. Landslides are also happening in the mountains due to rain. Local citizens, tourists and pilgrims are facing a lot of problems. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a mock drill and inspection to be conducted due to continuous heavy rains in the state. In such a situation, special instructions have been given to the local authorities.
Disasters like floods, landslides and waterlogging
In the course of the CM instructions of Uttarakhand, instructions have been issued by Director General of Police Deepam Seth to take special vigilance to all the districts of the state. The purpose of these instructions is to minimize loss of life during natural disasters like floods, landslides, waterlogging and ensure quick and effective relief work.
Guidelines issued to these officers
The Director General of Police issued the following guidelines to the Inspector General of Police, Garhwal and Kumaon, Inspector General of Police, SDRF, PAC, Fire, and Emergency Services.
These things will have to be taken care of in the guidelines
- QRT (Quick Response Team) posted in all police stations, fire stations and police lines should be kept in active mode.
- All disaster equipment (portable pump, rope, flashlight, life jacket etc.) should be kept in working conditions.
- Wireless, control room, dial 112 and other communication mediums should be kept attentive.
- Giving quick response on any information, the team should be sent immediately.
- Mock drills should be organized in all districts with agencies related to disaster management.
- Senior police officers go to the field themselves and inspect sensitive areas.
- They should be alerted by constant dialogues with the residents of the affected areas.
- Appeal to stay away from river-drains, to safe places through PA system and Munadi.
- Entry of tourists in sensitive areas should be banned during the warning period.
- In an emergency, adequate police forces should be deployed to remove the crowd immediately and safely.
- If necessary, the affected should be safely transferred to relief centers.
- Food, medical assistance and other essential services should be provided by coordinating with the local administration.
Review of mutual coordination
Mutual coordination should be reviewed to deal with heavy rains and any emergency. Necessary guidelines have been given by examining preparations from dial 112 to forces posted in the field. IG Fire and Emergency Service Shri Mukhtar Mohsin inspected the State Disaster Operations Center, Song River Pusta area, Doiwala Fire Station and Possible waterlogging area.
Special instructions to police officers also
He has given instructions to alert, keep the equipment ready and alert the residents in time. All SSPs/SPs have given necessary guidelines to subordinates by visiting the field themselves.
