Pakistan Rain and Flood: Heavy rains and floods in Pakistan have caused havoc. Many parts have flooded due to monsoon rains, causing 234 people to die since the end of June. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has given information about this on Wednesday. In view of the situation, a warning of flood threat in major rivers and surrounding reservoirs in Punjab has been issued by the government from 22 to 24 July.
Administration is on alert mode
The administration is in alert mode mode in rain and flood areas. The authorities have urged people to visit safe places with their cattle. Flood waters have caused heavy damage to homes, fields and road infrastructure. Officials said that the residents of Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Zhang and Nankana Sahib of Punjab province are being taken to safe places due to rising water level in Chenab, Indus and Jhelum rivers. In the last 24 hours, the death toll in Pakistan increased from 223 to 234.

CM visits flood affected areas
According to the NDMA, Punjab remains the most affected province due to rain and floods, where 135 people have died and 470 people have been injured. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited the flood affected areas of Nankana Sahib, about 80 km from Lahore and distributed relief material among the victims.
Loss of crops
A Punjab government official said that the water level has also been reported to rise in Ravi and Indus rivers. The official said that due to the floods in the Indus river, standing crops in hundreds of villages of Punjab have also been submerged. Meanwhile, heavy rains on Wednesday caused a sudden flood in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, causing the houses to be damaged and the water level in rivers and drains increased and due to which people had to go to safe places.
