Heavy rains in 20 cities of Madhya Pradesh: Manikarnika Ghat drowned in Kashi
20 cities received heavy rains on Friday. There was a red alert in Mandla, Seoni and Balaghat districts. A gas cylinder truck drowned in water in Jabalpur. Mandla has a flood situation. Tikamgarh has dropped 6 inches of water in 24 hours.
Most of the crematorium platforms of Kashi’s Mahashmanashan Manikarnika Ghat in UP have been submerged in the Ganges river. The funerals of the dead bodies have to be performed on the roof of the ghat. Small temples nearby have also been submerged.
Rajasthan has received 167.1 mm of rain since June 1, 137% more than normal. At the same time, there is no district drought now due to continuous monsoon active. Whereas till the first week of July, 14 districts were in the grip of drought.
Himachal Pradesh is causing continuous rains. 14 bridges have been swept away by the rivers. 500 roads in the state are completely closed. Floods and landslides lost their lives due to heavy rains in Kangra, Mandi, Chamba and Shimla districts. The worst situation is in Mandi district, where 17 people were killed and 40 are still missing.
Heavy rains continue in Uttar Pradesh as well. The Ratneshwar Mahadev Temple of Varanasi drowned more than half in the Ganges. Apart from this, more than 300 posts of panda-priests were submerged. Here the water level of the Ganges has increased by 15 feet in 4 days. The water level of the Ganges was recorded at 62.63 meters till 11 pm on Friday night. The danger mark is 71.262.
