Heavy rains in Goa, red alert today: thunderstorms in Madhya Pradesh
In some areas of 30 states of the country including Madhya Pradesh, there is a thunderstorm and rain today. These include heavy rains in the sea areas of Assam, Meghalaya, Goa and Karnataka.
Heavy rains continue in Goa for the second consecutive day. Also, the wind is moving at a speed of 60 kmph. In the last 24 hours, Pername in North Goa has received more than 207 mm of rainfall.
The Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert in both the districts North and South Goa today, then it was increased to red alert in the afternoon.
The state government has banned entry on waterfall, forest and tracking spots. The department has issued a rain orange alert for Thursday and Yellow alert till 27 May.
IndiGo Airline said, ‘Goa flights may be affected today due to heavy rains. Be sure to check the status of the flight before going to the airport.
At the same time, outbreak of scorching heat continues in Uttar Pradesh. Cold wards have been built in hospitals in the capital Lucknow for diseases related to heat wave and heat.
Heat wave is 20 beds for patients, with 10 for emergency. People have been advised not to leave the house from 12 noon to 4 pm.
