Dharchula residents of Uttarakhand had filed a petition in the Uttarakhand High Court in the year 2023 saying that in 1996, the Border Road Organization had constructed the road from Tawaghat to Pangti, but during the construction, the Border Road Organization had deposited the debris of the road on their agricultural land. Due to which his agricultural land got damaged, hence when he asked for compensation, assurance was given by BRO, but compensation was not given.

If reports are to be believed… On October 15, the court had issued a bailable warrant against the Director General of the Border Road Organization and ordered him to appear on November 6, 2024, but he neither appeared in the court nor submitted any reply, the department informed the concerned authorities. After this, in the case of non-payment of compensation to the petitioners during the road construction, a single bench of Justice Pankaj Purohit has ordered the Director General of Border Road Organization to appear in the court on December 4, 2024 for not following the earlier order.
Not only this, the court expressed displeasure over this conduct and said that when bailable warrants have been issued against the Director General of Border Roads Organisation, he should have followed the court’s order!
