A thick layer of smog blanketed Delhi on Thursday morning as the air quality index reached 379 at 7 am, falling into the “very poor” category. The air quality index, which was recorded in the “severe” category on Wednesday, improved slightly today. As winter tightens its grip, air quality in major cities across the country is being recorded in the “poor” and “moderate” categories, indicating potential health concerns for residents.

According to Central Pollution Control data, as of Thursday morning, air quality in five major cities was recorded as “poor”, eight in the “moderate” category, one in the “satisfactory” category and only two in the “good” category. Plank.
