The department said that Himachal Pradesh is currently struggling with frightening disaster. Under these circumstances, it would be very challenging for the youth preparing for Himachal Pradesh Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination. I also received your messages through social media and other mediums, demanding to postpone the examination. Keeping in mind your feelings and difficulties, it has been decided to postpone the examination and conduct it in the next date. It is requested that you continue your preparation. “

Rail service postponed due to rain

Railway officials said that trains were canceled after landslides on the Shimla-Kalka railroad on Monday. This service will be postponed till September 5. 289 roads are closed for traffic in Mandi, 241 in Shimla, 239 in Chamba, 169 in Kullu and 127 in Sirmaur district. The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) reported that the National Highway (NH) 3 (Mandi-Dharampur Road), NH 305 (AOT-SANJ), NH 5 (Old Hindustan-Tibet Road), NH 21 (Chandigarh-Manali Road), NH 505 (Gramfu Road from Khab) and NH 707 have become blocked.

Heavy rain alert in Himachal

The local Meteorological Department has issued a ‘red alert’ warning of extremely heavy rain in some areas of the state for Tuesday and the next day has issued ‘Orange Alert’ warning of heavy to very heavy rain.

On Monday, schools and colleges of nine districts were ordered to be closed under the Disaster Management Act. On Tuesday, all educational institutions remained closed in Banjar, Kullu and Manali subdivisions of Kullu districts besides Shimla, Kangra, Sirmaur, Una, Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Lahaul and Spiti districts. Officials said efforts are on to send about 5,000 Manimahesh pilgrims back home in Chamba district. He said that since the start of the yatra on August 15, 16 pilgrims have died so far.
