The Pune Metropolitan Area Development Authority (PMRDA) has successfully completed the first trial run of a part of the metro rail from Man-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar. Its first trial was successfully completed from Run Mann Depot to PMR 4 station. It is about 23.3 km long Hinjewadi -Sivajinagar Corridor. 87% of the project has been completed and the remaining work is in the final stages. This metro route for common passengers is expected to start from March 2026.

The metro line 3 from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar will have a total of 23 stations and travel time will be less for the work for the city to Hinjwadi for work. More than one lakh people work in Infotech Park. Metro Line 3 is the first public-private partnership model of Metro Rail in India. It is being developed through a joint venture of Tata and Siemens in the name of Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited. The project work started on November 25, 2021. The PMRDA Metro Rail Project has so far received four metro rails as part of the project. The capacity to carry passengers is one thousand and the train will run at a speed of 80 kmph.
