How can India equal oil producing countries, Nitin Gadkari told the plan
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Wednesday that if the cost of making hydrogen in the country was brought up to one dollar per kg, it could become a global exporter from energy importer. In the 24th Darbari Seth Smriti Lecture held at The Energy and Resources Institute, the Union Minister said that the cost of hydrogen is currently around five to six dollars per kg, which is quite expensive than traditional fuels.
Gadkari said that if we succeed in bringing it up to one dollar per kilogram, India will reach the same position as existing oil producing countries. ”He said that hydrogen will play a decisive role in shaping the future of energy.
The minister said that the biggest obstacle is to install hydrogen ‘filling station’ and develop systems for fuel transport. He said that there is a need to work on these areas immediately and widespread. Regarding the possibility of the use of waste for energy, Gadkari said that the solid waste of the municipal corporation can prove to be very beneficial.

He said that if we separate the waste, remove the organic matter from it and put it in ‘bio -bio -biozester’, then methane gas is made from it. Instead of converting methane into CNG, if we use it to make green hydrogen, then only the municipal garbage of the country can produce very cheap hydrogen. ”Gadkari said that hydrogen will replace fossil fuel.
He said that it will not only be important for transportation, but will also be used in the fields of medicine, chemicals and steel. This will run trains, fly airplanes and eliminate dependence on fossil fuels. Highlighting the rise of the country in the global vehicle market, the minister said that the country has recently beaten Japan from seventh place to third place. Language edited by: Sudhir Sharma
