There are some films in Bollywood which have changed the turn of time and have not descended from the hearts of people even after decades. One such film is ‘Sholay’ whose character and artist still remember people. The example of Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan’s friendship in the film is still heard. Recently, actor Dharmendra recalled how he helped megastar Amitabh Bachchan to give Jai’s role in the film ‘Sholay’ directed by Ramesh Sippy in 1975. In a conversation with ANI, he said, ‘It has already been mentioned. Yes, I recommended him, I did not say that I gave him (Amitabh Bachchan) role, he used to come to meet me Amitabh Saheb, he used to sit next to me. I told Ramesh Sippy ji, this is a new boy, he feels a very good job with his voice, whoever was beautiful to love himself, liked it. I said take them. ‘ The role was reportedly allegedly given to Shatrughan Sinha but later Dharmendra recommended the name of Amitabh Bachchan.
Sholay’s strong story is settled in hearts
‘Sholay’ revolves around Ramgarh village, where retired police chief Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) conspires to demolish the notorious dacoit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan) and take the help of two young criminals, Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Viru (Dharmendra). When Gabbar attacks the village, Jai and Veeru wonder why Thakur does nothing to help them. He soon learns that he has no weapon and Gabbar killed him. Enraged by this, they double their efforts to help Thakur. Dharmendra said that he enjoyed working in ‘Sholay’, ‘This film has been made for centuries with my thoughts.’
Career started in 1960
Dharmendra made his debut in 1960 with ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’. He first gained popularity from films like ‘I Milan Ki Bella’, ‘Phool Aur Patthar’ and ‘Aa Din Bahar Ke’ in the mid -1960s. He acted in many successful films from the 1960s to the 1980s, such as Aankhen, Hunting, Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Jeevan Death, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Sita and Geeta, Raja Jani, Jugnu, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Friends, Sholay, Pledge, Charas, Dharam Veer, uncle nephew, slavery, hook, fire, fire, fire. And some of her acclaimed performances along with Tehelka include illiterate, Bandini, Hakikat, Anupama, Mamta, Majhali Didi, Satyakam, Naya Zamana, Samadhi, silk cord, silent, silent, dili, the burning train, two directions and safaar.
Dharmendra will be seen in twenty -one film
However, after becoming a part of so many successful projects, he said, ‘I still have my best to be given.’ Talking about his upcoming project, he said, ‘Now my film’ Twenty -one ‘is coming. Shriram Raghavan is its director. Very good directors and a very good subject. I will not talk about it right now, she is releasing on October 2. Dharmendra is ready to work again with actor Arbaaz Khan with actor Arbaaz Khan after 27 years. The shooting of the film is going to start soon and it is expected that it will come to theaters in November 2025, as stated in a press note shared by the makers of ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya Phir Se’.
