Washington: US President Donald Trump finally succeeded in getting a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia at the White House. Azerbaijan and Armenia leaders signed a historic peace agreement at the White House on Friday in the presence of Trump. The agreement in the media’s arbitration ends the struggle that has been going on for four decades in the South Cocks region. Trump got this agreement by handing the leaders of both countries.

40 -year -old struggle will end

There was a struggle between Azerbaijan and Armenia for nearly 40 years. Now it is expected that this war will end. The agreement provides for reopening major transport routes between the two countries. Along with this, America will also get an opportunity to take advantage of Russia’s declining influence in this region. The White House reported that a new transit corridor will be built under the agreement, named “Trump Root for International Peace and Prosperity” (Trump Marg for International Peace and Prosperity).

Trump is proud

President Donald Trump described the name of this route as a “great honor”. However, he also said, “I did not demand any demand for it.” A senior American official said that the suggestion of this name came from Armenia. Apart from the joint agreement, the two countries have also made separate agreements with the US, whose purpose is to promote energy, technology and economic cooperation. However, detailed details of these agreements have not been released yet.

Why the struggle started

This struggle was going on between the two countries over the Nagorno-Karabakh region for nearly 40 years. The region is internationally considered part of Azerbaijan, but most of the Armenian people lived here during the Soviet period. The dispute killed thousands of people in decades, while international arbitration efforts failed. Recently, in 2023, Azerbaijan had gained complete control over Karabakh and since then the negotiations between the two countries were going on.

Trump’s diplomatic achievement

During the ceremony, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Armenia Prime Minister Nicole Pashinian, joined hands and marked this historic moment. Trump was standing in the middle, who took the message of unity with the hands of the two leaders in his hands. Trump wants to create his image as a peace messenger. He has also meditated many peace and economic agreements earlier. This agreement on Friday is being seen as another major diplomatic achievement for him.

Trump wants Nobel Prize for peace

Leaders of the two countries said that this success was possible due to Trump and his team. Like several foreign leaders, he also demanded the Nobel Peace Prize to Trump. Describing the agreement as “an important milestone”, the Prime Minister of Armenia said, “We are laying the foundation of a better future today.” President Aliyev said, “President Trump performed a miracle in six months.” Trump said, “He fought for thirty five years, and now he is a friend … and will remain friends for a long time.”

Where will the trump route be made

The Trump Route will connect Azerbaijan and its autonomous Nakchewan region, which is different from 32 km (20 mi) wide strip of Armenia. The demands of Azerbaijan regarding this route were a hurdle in the first peace talks. Azerbaijan, a major producing country of oil and gas, will be able to make direct contact with this route to Türkiye and further Europe. Trump also said that he would like to visit this route: “We have to go there.” When asked if he was convinced of permanent peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Trump said, “completely.”

Jerk for Russia

The agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, former Soviet Republic, is considered a geopolitical shock for Russia. Russia maintained its influence by playing the role of a mediator in the region for years, but weakened his grip after a full attack on Ukraine in February 2022. The Trump administration then showed activeness in this direction earlier this year, when his prominent diplomatic representative Steve Witchoff met Aliyev in Baku and launched the so -called “regional rehabilitation”.

Negotiations regarding the construction of ‘Trump Route’ are likely to begin next week, which will include railway line, oil and gas pipelines, and fiber optic networks. According to a senior official, so far at least nine developers have shown interest in the project.
