Europe News Desk!! An Indian woman living in London fell in love online with a man from her own community. The woman has been maintaining this relationship online for nine years. But the lover does not make video calls, talks in a strange voice even on voice calls and makes excuses in the name of meeting.
The girlfriend then takes the help of a detective and reaches the boyfriend’s house, but what happened next was extremely disturbing and shocking. This story is of radio presenter Kirat Assi, who was a victim of catfishing for nine years. The most surprising thing is that the face which gave pain to the daughter for nine years turned out to be none other than her own cousin.
What is the story of Sweet Bobby?
Kirat Assi (the victim) is a Sikh woman. Cardiologist Bobby Jandu (whose identity made the victim a victim of catfishing) is also a young man from the Sikh community. Both do not know each other, but they have some friends and relatives in common.
Kirat saw Bobby in a club, but did not talk. It’s 2009 – Keerat receives a friend request on Facebook from the name Bobby Jandu, who has many mutual friends. Keerat accepts the request and both start talking.
Acquaintance, then friendship and both fall in love. Kirat was 29 years old at that time. She was under pressure to marry, so she told her mother and siblings about her relationship with Bobby. Through conversation she also liked the boy. Kirat stays awake all night talking to Bobby, who is not Bobby at all.
Meanwhile, Keerat’s cousin Simran (known to Bobby) tells him that someone has shot Bobby six times. His condition is serious. Kirat keeps getting updates about Bobby’s health from his cousin. He learns that Bobby has been taken under witness protection to New York, where he is being treated in a hospital. After a few days, Bobby starts talking to Kirat from another Facebook account. Kirat sends a voice message. Text messages come from there. Gradually Bobby starts controlling Kirat. He started having doubts on questions like when, where, where, who will meet. Due to this he also had to leave his radio show. Kirat insists on meeting again and again, but Bobby keeps making flimsy excuses to avoid meeting face to face.
In 2018, he is reported to have come to London at Kirat’s insistence. Says he has checked into a hotel in Kensington. Not ready to meet Kirat yet. Keerat reaches the hotel and finds that there is no guest named Bobby Jandu. When Kirat asked Bobby, he told that he had told the receptionist not to tell anyone about him.
Keerat suspects that Bobby takes the help of a private detective and reaches Jandu’s house. There Bobby Jandu (real Bobby) opens the door and he does not recognize Keerat. Asks who are you? Bobby’s wife also comes in the evening. Kirat calls cousin and tells that he met Bobby today, but he is denying our relation, don’t know why. On this the sister asks him to leave from there. When the matter reached the police, cousin sister Simran confessed – the Bobby Kirat Assi who used to talk was none other than Simran. Not only this, the name of the friends and family members whom Kirat’s Bobby talked to on Facebook was also Simran. Simran had created fake accounts of about 60 people on social media. Kirat goes in shock.
In 2020, Kirat Assi had filed a case against Simran. In 2021, Kirat Assi received compensation and an apology from cousin Simran. However, the police did not take any criminal action. Kirat had to take help from a psychiatrist. Since then, Kirat Assi, who is suffering from catfishing, is making people aware about it and is appealing to the government to increase control over the internet. Kirat believes that such incidents are happening due to lack of control on the internet.
