How much data is stored in a small pen drive? Learn its real name
Pen drive
Pen Drive is used for work like data transfer, file storage. PAN drive popularity has declined since the arrival of online cloud storage. Now companies like Google, Microsoft give users the option of cloud storage, in which users store their essential documents, which can be accessed from anywhere. However, PAN drives are still used for many tasks. Do you know how so many files are stored in a small pan drive?
Storage device
Earlier, users used floppy disks to store computer files, which used to have just a few bytes. This was followed by CD i.e. compact disk and DVD i.e. digital video disc. Data could be stored from 1GB to 5GB. Then there is a round of PAN drive and MMC i.e. memory card, in which 2TB i.e. 2 terabite data can be stored.
Usually the pan drive weighs close to 30 grams. In early 2000, the first pan drive came to the market. In these pan drives, files equal to several CD/DVD can be stored. The main reason for the popularity of PAN drive is that after storing the files in it, it can be re -used by deleting it. In this, up to 1 lakh times files can be right and re-rid.
Who made a pan drive?
Pan Drive was invented by Aamir Ban, Dov Moran and Oraon Ogand, who works in the Israeli company M-System. He had registered a patent on 5 April 1999, which was approved on 14 November 2000. Apart from these, in 1999, IBM engineer Shimon Shamuli also submitted an invention disclosure about its invention. PAN drive is also called USB flash drive or universal serial bus flash drive.
- The PAN drive launched by 2002 was called USB 2.0, in which data could be transferred at a speed of 35Mbps.
- In 2013, the Kingston Company launched the first PAN drive with 1TB storage.
- In 2015, USB 3.1 Type C has been invention, which can transfer data at a speed of 530Mbps.
- In 2017, Kingston launched the first PAN drive with 2TB storage.
- In 2018, Sandisk launched the smallest USB Type C PAN drive, which provides 1TB storage capacity.
How does Pen Drive work?
PAN drives have several layer magnetic cells, which work on EEPROM, electrically ereasable programable read-only Memery technology. As soon as it is connected to PC or other devices, it has electric current flow. Due to electric current, the memory of PAN drive becomes active, in which you can store a file and transfer the digital data in it to PC or any other device.
These days, PAN drives with encryption features have started coming, due to which it is not easy to temperature. In the initial stages, it was extremely easy to inject viruses into pan drives. Many cyber criminals injected viruses in the server through PAN drive.
