On which numbers will you get information?
The civil hospital will contact the relatives of the deceased, who have provided their DNA samples. Such relationships will be contacted by calling the registered phone numbers. Relatives should answer only the phone call made by an authorized person from the specified numbers of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. With the phone call, they will be informed when to match DNA and take the dead body. Who can claim the dead body?
The nearest relative providing DNA sample will have to come individually. If this is not possible, then any other close family member may come instead. The person taking the dead body has to bring the following documents to establish the identity of his and the deceased-
- A person’s Aadhaar card or any other government sanctioned photo identity card (original)
- Aadhaar of the deceased, passport or voter ID card (original or a copy)
- A document proving their relationship with the deceased
- Phone number registered during submission of DNA sample
- If a close relative is unable to come personally and authorize someone else to take the dead body instead, they will have to provide a proper authority letter with their documents.
What documents will be given by the hospital?
The hospital will prepare a file for the relatives of the deceased, which will include the post -mortem (PM) report, death certificate and all other legal documents. If there is a shortage of documents that prove the relationship or identity of the deceased, then after receiving a call from the hospital, the family should contact their local Mamaladar, Collector or Provincial Officer for guidance.
