What to do – Essential work in Chitragupta Puja (DOS)

1. Do clean the house and place of worship: One day before Chitragupta Puja or on the same day, do the whole cleaning of the house in the morning. Especially keep the place of worship pure. This keeps positive energy and purity remains in worship.

2. Take a bath and wear pure clothes: Take a bath before worshiping and wear clean, traditional clothes. Women can wear saree or salwar-kurta, male dhoti-kurta or clean clothes. It is a symbol of internal and external purity.

3. Install the idol or picture of Chitragupta ji: For worship, keep a picture or idol of Chitragupta ji. If not, you can worship by writing their name on white paper symbolically.

4. Worship the pen, dawat and paper: This is the specialty of worship. Keep the pen and dawat in a copper or brass plate. Offer turmeric, kumkum and akshat to them. Write and worship on white paper and worship “ॐ Shri Chitragupta Namah”.

5. Resolve honesty and karma: After worship, take self -observation and resolve to live with truth, justice and honesty in life. This is the main message of this festival.

6. Worship with family: All family members should be involved in worship, especially explain the importance of this worship to children. Present them pen, copy or educational items.

7. Do Naivedya, Deep and Mantra in worship: Offer pudding, sweets or fruit naivedya to God. Wish the lamp and chant the mantra “Om Chitragupta Namah”.

What not to do – What are the things to keep in mind in Chitragupta Puja

1. Do not consume non -vegetarian and alcohol before worship: Before worship and on that day, eat completely vegetarian food. The purity of worship is destroyed by meat, alcohol or intoxication.

2. Do not make slippers, mobile or noise at the place of worship: Keep full concentration while worshiping. Keep the mobile off and keep the place of worship away from the slippers.

3. Do not worship with wrong or incomplete method: If you do not know the worship method properly, then worship before taking information or by guiding a pundit. The effect of worship can be reduced by incomplete or wrong method.

4. Do not consider the pen-dawat as useful, consider the worship material: Do not use these items in normal works after worship. Keep them careful or keep them in a holy place.

5. Do not wear impure or dirty clothes in worship: It is unfair to wear dirty or rude clothes at the time of worship. Wear only clean and simple clothes.

6. Do not worship only in the name of tradition, keep expressions: If you are worshiping only as a ritual, then there will be no special benefit. Have true devotion and loyalty while worshiping.
