Lahore:Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief mentor Imran Khan on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Army Chief General Asim Munir. Imran called Munir a “hungry of power” and the “worst type of dictatorship” in the country.
Accused of crushing democracy
72 -year -old Imran Khan, who has been jailed in various cases for almost two years, made several serious allegations against Asim Munir through a post on social media. He said, “General Aseem Munir is so hungry for power that he has crushed democracy in Pakistan and has established the climax of dictatorship. He neither understands nor Islam.”
Munir responsible for May 9 violence
On May 9, 2023, Khan, while directly responsible for the violent riots across the country, said that “Instead of apologizing to me, Munir himself should apologize, because all this was his conspiracy. He planned the incident of 9 May and then stole CCTV footage. Today he is using the same incident as his ‘insurance policy’.”
Munir dictatorship
Imran Khan further said that there is no longer democracy in Pakistan, but the entire power has become concentrated in the hands of one person. “It is not a democratic system, but a dictatorship of infinite Munir,” he wrote. He also took a sarcasm and said that this is the reason why US President Donald Trump invited Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif but Munir.
Torture being given in jail
In his post, Imran Khan claimed that he was kept in a complete seclusion imprisonment in jail. “I have been allowed to meet only three times in three months. My lawyers and family members were not allowed to contact for months. All this is trying to break me mentally.” Khan alleged that some relatives unrelated with his politics have also been kidnapped to put more pressure on them. He said that his wife Bushra Begum has also been kept in seclusion imprisonment for the last eight months and he is being pressured to separate from Imran Khan, but “Bushra is still standing with me today.” (Language)
