Creta EV will be the first of 4 mass-market electric cars from Hyundai and will be launched in early 2025

Hyundai Motor India Limited currently sells only the IONIQ 5. Whereas Kona EV has been discontinued recently. To capture the mass-market EV space, the Korean carmaker is actively working on the Creta EV which is scheduled to be launched soon. Furthermore, the latest media reports suggest that 3 more mass-market electric cars will be coming to the Indian market.

The series of new electric cars from Hyundai will start with Creta EV which is scheduled to be launched early next year. This newly launched Tata Curve EV will compete with the upcoming Maruti Suzuki EVX and MG ZS EV. Based on the standard Creta, the EV will have minor cosmetic changes and will come with a 45 kWh battery pack.

After this, Inster-based small EVs will be introduced. Internally codenamed HE1i, the Tata Punch EV rival will go on sale in the second half of 2026. It will be based on the born-electric e-GMP (K) platform that will be shared by many small EVs from Hyundai and Kia globally.

While the above two electric cars are already under development, Hyundai is evaluating a full-electric version of the Venue based on its next-generation model and the electric Grand i10 Nios. The electric Venue will compete with the market leader Tata Nexon EV as well as the soon-to-be-launched Mahindra XUV3XO EV.

On the other hand, the Grand i10 Nios-based EV will compete with the Tata Tiago EV. The Tiago EV has no direct rivals in its segment and Hyundai’s electric hatch may find good takers. The Korean carmaker has committed to invest Rs 20,000 crore for the development of electric cars in India over the next 8 years.
