The ICC has released the latest Test rankings and according to this ranking, England star batsman Joe Root has once again become the number one batsman. Joe Root scored a brilliant century in the third Test match played against India at Lord’s, due to which he has again achieved his top position in the latest ICC rankings.

His fellow player Harry Brook has lost his first place after failing twice in the last match and has slipped to third place. In the longest format of the game, there have been several changes in the top 10 batsmen in the latest ICC rankings. Kane Williamson is not playing any Test match, but he has benefited from Brook’s failure in Lord’s. He has moved to the second place and is only 21 points behind the root in the ranking.

Former Australian captain Steve Smith is also in fourth place with the benefit of one place, who scored 48 runs in the very difficult situations of Sabina Park in a Test match played against West Indies. Yashaswi Jaiswal failed to make an impact in both innings at Lord’s and slipped to fifth place with 801 rating points.

India’s Test captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Rishabh Pant have also suffered losses due to lack of expectation in the last match. Gill has moved three places to ninth place, while Pant is in eighth place a little above him. Interestingly, Pant scored 72 runs in the first innings, but even then his rating has declined. Ravindra Jadeja scored a half -century while performing brilliantly in both innings of the Lord’s Test. He has jumped five places to reach 34th position and has also scored his career’s best 609 rating points for his excellent performance in the current England tour.
