Even before Team India’s Asia Cup 2025 Squad was announced, former India cricketer and selector Krishnamachari Srikanth demanded the inclusion of a young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the team. But the fans will be surprised to know that even if the selectors want, Suryavanshi cannot be a part of Team India.

The Indian team’s squad for the Asia Cup 2025 will be declared in Mumbai on Tuesday (August 19) at 1:30 pm. But even before the team’s announcement, the market of discussions about selection is hot. Major names like Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer continue, while 1983 World Cup winner and former opener Krishnamachari Srikanth said that he should give 14 -year -old dhakad player Vaibhav Suryavanshi a place in the team.

Talking on his YouTube, Srikanth said, “If I had been a selector, I would have taken Suryavanshi in the team without thinking.” He lashed out at the selectors and said that it is wrong to make excuses for maturity repeatedly, because talent is proved not by age but by sports.

But there is a big twist here. Indeed, even though Suryavanshi is playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL (IPL), he is still disqualified for international cricket. The reason for this is the rule of ICC. According to the rule implemented in 2020, any player can make an international debut only when he is at least 15 years old. Vaibhav is only 14 years old at the moment and will be 15 years old on 27 March 2026.

That is, at present, Suryavanshi cannot get a chance to wear Team India’s jersey even after wanting. However, his talent and IPL performance have already made him into the headlines and fans hope that this name can become the biggest power of Indian cricket in the coming years.
