Washington DC : After the US implemented 50 percent tariff on Indian goods on Wednesday, the relations between the two countries are going through their worst phase in recent times. At the same time, the process of statements between the two countries is also going on. Kevin Haset, director of the US National Economic Council and advisor to the White House, has described the relations between the US and India as complex, saying that if India does not agree, the US will not soften its stand. He said that India is adopting dogma to open its market for American products. Haset linked the American tariff imposed on India with the efforts of Jio Politics to pressurize Russia over the Ukraine conflict.

President Trump will not give concession

Speaking to the US media during a meeting at the White House, Haset said that if India does not back down from its stubbornness, then President Trump will not give any concession. He said that this is a complex relationship and a part of it is associated with our attempt to pressurize Russia, so that there can be peace agreement on Ukraine-Russia and millions of people can be saved. Along with this, India’s stubborn attitude in opening its market is also involved.

The reason for the huge tariff was purchased from Russia?

This statement of Haset has come at a time when Washington has imposed 50 percent tariff on Indian imports. The tariff has been imposed after a draft notice published by the US Customs and Border Security (CBP). According to the notice, these additional duty is being levied to make the President’s Executive Orders 14329 effective in August 6, 2025, which determines a new rate of duty on imports imported from India. The US had earlier imposed a tariff of 25 percent, which has increased to 50 percent. America wanted India not to buy oil from Russia. But India continued to buy cheap oil from Russia, taking care of its interests.

Finally we will come together: Scott Besant

Let me tell you that earlier the statement of India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had come out. He said on allegations of India’s oil purchasing oil from Russia that if America has problems with India buying Russian oil, it should stop buying treated oil from India. Trump felt that India would start gidden as soon as he applied 50 percent tariff. But this strong statement by Jaishankar has blown the senses of America. After this, when asked in this regard from US Finance Minister Scott Besant, he said- “Well, India is the largest democracy in the world and America is the world’s largest economy. We will eventually come together.” It is clear from this statement of America that it is understanding the disadvantage of taking enmity with India.
