Cibil score: If you are applying for a government job, then take special care of your CIBIL score or credit score. If your CIBIL score is not good, then your appointment can be canceled even after getting an appointment letter. Yes, State Bank of India canceled P. Karthikeyan’s appointment in one such case, as Karthikeyan’s CIBIL score was bad. When Karthikeyan filed a case against SBI in the case, the Madras High Court dismissed the complainant’s plea, retaining the SBI’s decision.

SBI canceled after giving appointment letter

In July 2020, P. Kartikeyan issued an advertisement for the post of CBO post by SBI. Karthikeyan applied for a job on the basis of advertisement. The complainant passed all the examinations, after which SBI issued an appointment letter to him on March 12, 2021. However, State Bank of India canceled the appointment of the applicant on 9 April 2021. SBI said that they have found serious shortcomings of financial discipline in the CIBIL report of Karthikeyan, on the basis of which the appointment has been canceled.

What did the applicant say in his complaint

On this decision of SBI, Karthikeyan filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court and demanded the cancellation of the bank’s order. The petitioner said in his argument that there was no loan pending on him till the date of issuance of advertisement by the bank and he had paid all loans. The petitioner said that he was also declared a defaulter by any credit agency including CIBIL, in such a situation, SBI’s decision is wrong.

What was SBI’s side

The bank said in defense of its decision that according to Section 1 (E) of the advertisement, if any applicant’s name is a loan or credit card payment lapse or a poor report from CIBIL or any other credit agency, he will not be considered eligible for the job. The bank said that the condition was clearly explained in the advertisement extracted for the job.

What decision did the court ruin

While hearing the petition of P. Kartikeyan, Justice N. of Madras High Court. Mala said that it is not enough to repay the loan only, but the record of loan payment throughout the time should also be clear and there should not be any kind of bad CIBIL report. The High Court said in its judgment that when an applicant applies for a job on the basis of advertising conditions, those conditions cannot be challenged later.
