IIM rape in Calcutta, accused arrested: Boys on the pretext of counseling session

A case of rape of a student came to light on Saturday in the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta. The accused has been arrested.

According to the police, both of them were acquainted on social media. The student came to meet the accused for advice in a private matter. He was then taken to the Boys Hostel, where he was raped.

The incident took place on Friday at Business School’s Boys Hostel. The accused student was taken into custody on Friday night, arrested today.

The victim has stated in the FIR that he was called a hostel for a counseling session. There she drank a drink, causing her to faint. On coming to his senses, it was found that he was raped.

The victim alleged that the accused had threatened him that if he told this to anyone, he would have to face serious consequences.

On June 25, a student was gangraped at South Kolkata Law College. The main accused Manjit Mishra is an alumni from here. The remaining two are current students. The main accused Manjit Mishra, Jab Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee were arrested on 26 June.

Police investigation revealed that after the incident, the main accused and his associates drank alcohol in the college guard room for hours. Security guard Pinaki Banerjee threatened that no one should tell anything about the incident. After this, he went to eat at a dhaba. Then returned to their respective homes.

According to the police, on June 26, the next day of the incident, when Manjit Mishra realized the seriousness of the situation, he contacted an influential person living in the Deshpriya Park area. The person had helped him earlier too. However, this time he advised to withdraw from Manjit.
