The police have arrested the food court employee.
Chennai: The incident of alleged sexual harassment has come to light inside the campus with a 20-year-old student doing an internship at Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras). According to reports, the incident occurred on the evening of 25 June 2025, when a 22 -year -old food court employee allegedly threatened the student and allegedly molested her. The student made a noise and informed the security guard present nearby, who informed the police. The police, taking prompt action, have arrested the accused and the investigation of the case is going on.
Sexual harassment
According to the information given by the police, on the evening of June 25, the student was walking alone in the IIT-Madras campus. Then the accused, who has been identified as 22 -year -old Rohan Kumar, threatened and sexually assaulted him with a wooden stick. Showing courage, the student immediately made noise and informed the nearby security guard about the incident. The security guard immediately informed the police, after which the Chennai police took Rohan Kumar into custody on the basis of the student’s complaint. Accused Rohan Kumar used to work as a guest employee in a food court of IIT-Madras Campus. The police have arrested him and he is being questioned.
Rape incident in Law College of Bengal
A student of a law college in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, was allegedly raped by an alumni inside the institute, while 2 senior students assisted the main accused in the crime. According to the police, the three accused were arrested and produced in the court, from where they were sent to police custody for 4 days. The gruesome incident at South Calcutta Law College brought back the terrible memories of rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the city’s Medical College in August last year. The main accused of the incident is an alumnus of the college. He is also being described as former president of the Trinamool Congress Students Council Unit of the college and the organization secretary of the South Kolkata branch of the student organization of TMC.
