Lahore: The Tehreek-e-Insaf Party has started an informally agitation from Lahore to release former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Pakistan. This information was given by the party on Sunday. On the other hand, the police has been alerted about this movement. The police have made several arrests to prevent party workers from participating in this protest. The political movement in Lahore has intensified.

Movement started before due date

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party was earlier announced that it would start the movement from 5 August. But before that, the ‘release of Imran Khan’ has been started by the party. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and prominent PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur arrived in Lahore late Saturday night and announced to start the movement to release the party’s chief patron Khan.

Imran Khan has been jailed since?

Cricketer -turned -politician 72 -year -old Imran Khan has been in jail since August 2023. He was sent to jail since the case was filed in several cases. Imran’s party PTI is preparing to launch a major campaign across the country from August 5 to pressurize the Shahbaz Sharif government and the military establishment to release Khan. PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur and other prominent leaders of the party are camping at a farmhouse in Raiwind area of Lahore, adjacent to the Sharif family residence to finalize their protest campaign.

How many PTI workers arrested?

Meanwhile, the police allegedly arrested at least 20 PTI activists, who gathered at various places in Lahore to welcome their leaders. A PTI spokesperson said on Sunday that the Punjab Police has detained several of its activists. “The police have been raiding the homes of party leaders and workers in Punjab province, especially Lahore, for the last few days to prevent them from participating in protests,” he said.

Appeal to bring protest to its peak

A spokesperson of the Punjab Police denied the arrest of any worker of Imran Khan’s party. However, a police source told the Press Trust of India that at least 20 PTI activists have been detained from Lahore and other places. Talking to party leaders in Lahore, Ali Amin Gandapur said, “Any protest campaign started from Lahore is successful and it will be successful in the whole country.” He appealed to party leaders and workers to take the protest campaign to its peak by 5 August.
