Quit India Movement filled the entire country with enthusiasm.

Quit India Movement began in 1942 under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi was a historic stop of the Indian freedom struggle. This movement not only created a wave of rebellion against the British rule, but the Indian people made ‘parallel governments’ i.e. parallel governments and showed that they can not only oppose, but also have the courage and ability to run the rule themselves. These parallel governments explain that the Indian people fought the freedom struggle with enthusiasm and passion. Let us tell you about the 3 major parallel governments Ballia, Tamaluk, and Satara, built in 1942 today.

Parallel government was formed in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh

When Mahatma Gandhi gave the slogan ‘Quit India’ in 1942, the people of Ballia adopted it wholeheartedly. People revolted against the British rule and drove out the local authorities. Chittu Pandey, who was a famous freedom fighter, founded the ‘National Sarkar’ in Ballia, which people called ‘Ballia princely’. During this time the prisoners were released from the jail, along with the British Collector and other officials ran away. For a few days, Swaraj (his own rule) was completely established in Ballia.

But the British Army soon started heavy repression, captured Ballia again, and arrested Chittu Pandey. This incident of Ballia shows that the Indian public was not limited to raising slogans or performing. They were ready to take the reins of governance in their hands. This small effort became a major symbol in the war of freedom.

‘Tamaluk National Government’ formed in Bengal in 1942

From 17 August 1942 to 1944, Tamralipta Jatiya Sarkar was established in Tamluk in Midnapore district under the leadership of Satyen Bose, Atulya Ghosh, Sushil Dhara and Arjun Ghosh. This government completely denied the British rule and set an example of an organized and systematic self -government. He made his own defense system, started basic services such as health and education, instead of British police, and established his judiciary where the locals resolved mutual disputes.

A parallel government was run in Tamaluk, Bengal for 2 years.

Tamaluk’s revolutionaries also created a intelligence network that monitored the activities of the British rule. This government lasted successfully for almost 2 years and the longest and organized parallel government of Quit India Movement was formed. The government was eventually dissolved on 8 August 1944 at the request of Mahatma Gandhi.

Nana Patil formed a parallel government in Satara

A secret parallel government was formed in 1942 in Satara, Maharashtra under the leadership of Nana Patil, which was called the ‘Pratishthan Sarkar’. This government used to work secretly against British rule and was a type of ‘shadow government’. Nana Patil, who was considered revolutionary and hero, was a prominent leader of this government. It completely boycotted British laws, started tax collection at its level, established local justice and security system, as well as social work such as help and land reforms of the poor.

Under the leadership of Nana Patil, this secret government lasted for about two years and remained a headache for the British. Nana Patil was later honored as a freedom fighter for his courage and leadership and also became a Lok Sabha MP.

What was the effect of parallel governments?

During the Quit India Movement, the parallel governments established in Ballia, Tamaluk and Satara gave a new collection to the Indian freedom struggle. Apart from this, a parallel government ran in Tarwan of Azamgarh for a few days in 1942. These governments showed that the Indian public could not only fight against British rule, but could also run the rule on its own. The princely state of Ballia, the National Government of Tamaluk and the establishment of Satara, highlighted the courage and solidarity of the people. Through them, there were works like help, education and justice of the poor, which became an inspiration for post -independence India. These governments were a symbol of self -government’s ability to demolish every wrong theory of the British.
