Increased incidents of stray dog bites, Supreme Court expressed concern over the threat of rabies

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has expressed serious concern over the increasing incidence of stray dog bites in cities and outskirts across the country and the spreading threat of rabies. Based on a major news report, the apex court has taken self -cognizance in this case.
Justice J. Pardiwala termed the report titled ‘City Hounded by Strease and Kids Pay Price’ as “very worrying” titled City Honded by Strays and Kids PRICE. The report states that hundreds of dog bites are coming to light, causing rabies infection spreading rapidly.
Effect on young children and the elderly
This critical condition is affecting the youngest children and the elderly, who are dying due to rabies. Justice Pardiwala described these deaths as “scary and disturbing”.
In view of the seriousness of the case, the Supreme Court has directed the registry to register this entire case as a self -cognizance petition. Also, the concerned order and news reports have been directed to present before the Chief Justice of India (CJI).
Infected dog responsible
Explain that rabies is a serious viral disease, which usually spreads to humans with the saliva of infected animals. Dogs infected for most human cases of rabies worldwide are responsible. In addition, wild animals such as bats, fox, racoon, coeot and scank can also spread rabies. Symptoms of rabies usually appear 2-3 months after the bite, but it can vary from 1 week to 1 year or more. Early symptoms may be flu-like, including fever, headache pain.
