India A team announced for England tour, Karun Nair returns, Dhruv Jurlel made vice-captain
Karun Nair, India a Team for England Tour: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India A team for the tour of England on Friday. Opening batsman Abhimanyu Easwan will captain the India A team and the team will play two first class matches against England A. under his leadership. Wicketkeeper batsman Dhruv Juril has been made the captain of the team and the 18 -member team also stars Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shardul Thakur and Karun Nair.
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan will join the team before the second match.
Apart from Jurael, Ishan Kishan is the second wicketkeeper-batsman in the team. Both were part of the India A team that played two informal Tests in Australia in 2024-25, in which Kishan played the first match and Jurlel played the second match.
There are many options for fast bowlers in the team. Apart from Thakur, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Anshul Kamboj, Khalil Ahmed, Tushar Deshpande and all -rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. In spin bowling, left -arm spinners Manav Suthar and Harsh Dubey and off -spinner Tanush Kotian are.
In the England A series, 33 -year -old Karun Nair will give Nair a chance to return to the national team. He has played six Test matches so far and last played in this format in 2017. The selectors have given him a chance after a great performance in domestic cricket. Nair scored 863 runs in 9 matches, performing brilliantly in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 and played an important role in making Vidarbha champion.
Nair played for Northamptonshire in county cricket in 2023 and 2024 and scored 736 runs in ten matches at an average of 56.61. This includes four half -centuries and two centuries, including an unbeaten 202 -run innings against Glamorgan.
The first first class match against England A will begin on May 30 in Canterbury, while the second match would have been played in Northampton on 6 June. After playing against England A, India A team will also take on the senior Indian team in the four -day match from June 13.
