New Delhi, 6 November (IANS). India and America will work together for regional and global security under a joint strategy. Besides, the armies of both the countries will work together in the field of dealing with threats and training. These facts have emerged from an important meeting of the India-US military cooperation group in New Delhi.

In this meeting held on Wednesday, the armies of both the countries discussed capacity building and strengthening preparedness to deal with threats. During the meeting, senior military officers of India and America reviewed the initiatives already going on between the two countries. Here senior military officials of India and America explored new areas of cooperation.

Both sides emphasized the importance of the India-US defense partnership. The 21st meeting of the India-US Military Cooperation Group (MCG) started from November 5. On Wednesday also this meeting was held at Manekshaw Center in New Delhi.

According to the Defense Ministry, many other topics including capacity building, training exchange, defense industrial cooperation, joint exercises to strengthen preparedness to deal with conventional and hybrid threats were discussed in the meeting. This meeting between India and America was co-chaired by Chief of Integrated Defense Staff Lieutenant General JP Mathew from the Indian side. At the same time, Lieutenant General Joshua M. Rood, Deputy Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, representing America, co-chaired this meeting on behalf of America.

Senior officials from both the countries reviewed various initiatives on the occasion and explored new areas of cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of the India-US defense partnership. A commitment was made to strengthen this strategic relationship through active engagement and interoperability.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to expand the scope of India-US military cooperation with a shared understanding of the dynamic challenges facing the Indo-Pacific region.

The Defense Ministry says that the India-US Military Cooperation Group is a historic platform, which aims to increase defense cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries. Apart from this, this platform promotes strategic and operational defense cooperation between the two countries.

The 21st India-US Military Cooperation Group meeting was aimed at ensuring regional and global security, countering emerging threats, and building mutual capabilities. This meeting represents a step forward in advancing the shared objectives of India and the United States.
