India closed Baglihar Dam for Pakistan

India on Sunday stopped the water of Baglihar Dam on the Chenab River for Pakistan. According to the report of news agency PTI, planning is going on to stop the water of Jhelum river through Kishanganga Dam in Kashmir.

A source, who has been aware of the case to the news agency PTI, said that India can regulate time to release water on its behalf through Kishanganga Hydropower Dam in Baglihar and North Kashmir in Ramban, Jammu. That is, the water reaching Pakistan through these dams can be reduced without any prior warning or the flow can also be increased.

There was a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir, 22 April, in which 26 tourists were killed. Since then, India has taken several diplomatic decisions against Pakistan.

There was a dispute over Baglihar and Kishanganga Dam

There was also a long dispute between India and Pakistan over the Baglihar dam. The matter was resolved after the intervention of the World Bank. At the same time, there was a strategic and legal issue regarding Kishanganga Dam. Due to this, the Neelam river was being affected. Neelam is a tributary of Jhelum.

After the Pahalgam attack in Assam, there is continuous action against people supporting Pakistan on social media. The Assam Police arrested two people on Saturday. State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on X on Sunday and said that action is going on against traitors supporting Pakistan on India’s soil.
