India’s big statement on Indus Water Agreement

India completely rejected the so -called arbitration court’s decision on the Indus Water Agreement. Jaiswal said, ‘India never accepted the validity, jurisdiction or competence of this so -called court. Its decision has no legal basis and it does not affect India’s rights to use water use. He also reiterated that on 27 June 2025, the Government of India suspended the treaty under a sovereign decision. This decision was taken in response to Pakistan-parked border terrorism, especially Pahalgam attack.

Emphasis on strong partnership between India and America

The Ministry of External Affairs also highlighted deep strategic relations between India and the US. Jaiswal said, ‘There is a widespread global strategic partnership between India and the US, which is based on shared interests, democratic values and strong people’s relationships. This relationship has gone through many changes and challenges, but our focus is on taking forward a relationship based on mutual respect and shared interests.

Indo-US joint exercise will be held in Alaska

Many important steps are being taken this month to further strengthen the Indo-US defense partnership. Jaiswal said that in mid -August, a US defense policy team will visit India. In addition, the 21st joint military exercise will take place in Alaska this month. The two countries are also going to organize 2+2 interceptual meetings at the end of this month. Jaiswal said, “Defense cooperation is an important pillar of our bilateral relationships, which have strengthened in all areas.”

PM Modi’s visit to UNGA not yet decided

The Ministry of External Affairs said that no decision has been taken on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to UNGA. At the same time, the ministry also said that India is an active member of the BRICS group and is in constant touch with other member countries on issues of shared interest. Explaining India’s stance on alternative currency and de-dollarization, he said that it is not a part of India’s financial agenda. On the Indo-China border trade, Jaiswal said that India is interacting with China, Lipulekh Pass of Uttarakhand, Shipki La Pass in Himachal Pradesh and Nathu La Pass of Sikkim to resume business.
