India-Rus Trade Deal: The US party will visit India in August to negotiate the next round on the proposed bilateral trade agreement with India. An official gave this information on Monday. The official said, “The US team will come to India in the late August for the next round negotiations.” Let us tell you that the two countries are trying to finalize an interim trade agreement before August 1. The delegations of India and the United States completed the fifth round of talks for the agreement in Washington last week. Rajesh Agarwal, the chief negotiator of India and Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce and Brandon Lynch, Assistant Trade Representative of South and West Asia region of America, led a party from their respective countries in this talk.
America announced 26% tariff for India
The US administration has imposed high customs duty on several countries including India, whose suspension period is scheduled to end on 1 August. US President Donald Trump announced high retaliation on 2 April this year. During this period, India was charged an additional 26 percent. However, a few days later this fee was postponed for 90 days i.e. till 9 July. It was later postponed till 1 August. In the fifth round of talks on the proposed trade agreement, issues related to agriculture and vehicle sector were discussed. During this period, matters related to non-market economies and scomels (special chemicals, organisms, materials, equipment and technology) were also discussed.
India does not want to relax America on agriculture and dairy
The official said the possibility of the interim trade agreement between India and the United States to conclude before 1 August. In fact, India has tightened its stand on the American demand of fees concessions on agriculture and dairy products. India has not yet given any fee concession in the dairy sector in the trade agreement with any country. Some farmer unions have urged the government not to include any issue related to agriculture in the trade agreement.
