India’s strength will increase, Udayagiri and Himgiri will join Indian Navy on 26 August
Udayagiri and Himgiri will be included in Indian Navy
New Delhi: A big news related to the Indian Navy has come out. The Indian Navy is preparing to include 2 forward -line warship Udayagiri (F35) and Himgiri (F34) together on 26 August 2025.
This is the first time that two major surface fighter ships of 2 prestigious Indian shipyards are being commissioned at Visakhapatnam at the same time. Looking at this move of the Navy, it seems that Make in India and self -reliant India initiative are being successful in the defense sector.
Who made Udayagiri and Himgiri?
Udayagiri, the second ship of Project 17A Stealth Frigates, is built by Majgaon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai. At the same time, Himgiri, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), is the first of the P17A ships manufactured by Kolkata.
Another major achievement for the Indian Navy is that Udayagiri is a 100th ship designed by the Navy’s Warship Design Bureau.
These warships are special
About 6,700 tonnes of displacement, the P17A warfare is about five percent larger than the war-load of its predecessor Shivalik-line and yet their size is more shapely, and their radar cross section is lower.
They are operated by joint diesel or gas propulsion plants, which are used by diesel engine and gas turbines, which run controlgic-picked propellers and are managed through an integrated platform management system (IPMS).
The arms suit includes supersonic surface-to-surface missiles, medium-range surface-to-air missiles, 76 mm MR guns and 30 mm and 12.7 mm close-in arms systems and combination of anti-submarine/underwater arms systems.
A glorious evidence of self -sufficiency
The construction of Udayagiri and Himgiri reflects the Navy’s commitment to self -reliance. This will be followed by other indigenous ships, such as destroyer INS Surat, Frigate INS Nilgiri, submarine INS Vaghashir, submarine INS Arnala in shallow water and divert aid vessel INS Sustainable, will be watered in 2025.
