New Delhi: India on Saturday welcomed the next week’s summit on the Ukraine war between US President Donald Trump and Russia President Vladimir Putin. India again reiterated the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that ‘this is not the era of war’. The response came after Trump’s announcement in which he said he would meet Putin in Alaska on August 15. Moscow has also confirmed this meeting, which aims to end the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said, ‘India welcomes a meeting between India, US and Russia on August 15 in Alaska. The meeting promises to end the ongoing struggle in Ukraine and increase the possibilities of peace. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said many times, it is not an era of war. India supports this summit meeting and is ready to cooperate in these efforts.

Let us know that India has been advocating resolving the Russia-Ukraine struggle for a long time through dialogue and diplomacy. On Friday, Putin informed about the latest Ukraine’s situation in a phone conversation with Modi. The Ministry of External Affairs said, “Thanking Putin for a detailed assessment, the Prime Minister reiterated India’s constant stance for a peaceful solution to the struggle.”
PM Modi visited Russia and Ukraine
In July last year, Modi visited Moscow and told Putin that the solution to Ukraine struggle is not possible in the battlefield, but by negotiations. He had said that peace efforts between bombs and bullets could not succeed. In August, Modi visited Kiev, the capital of Ukraine and met President Volodimir Jailonsky. He had said that Russia and Ukraine should work towards ending the war by sitting together without losing time. Modi had also reiterated that India is in favor of peace from the beginning. (PTI)
