India will not compromise with national security for trade: Foreign Minister Jaishankar

New Delhi, May 17 (IANS) Foreign Minister S. Referring to China, Jaishankar on Friday said that India will not give priority to trade with any country at the stake of its national interests.

Addressing the 'CII Annual Business Summit 2024' held in the national capital, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said India has not ruled out trade with China, but we need to exercise caution.

The minister said, “To continue relations with some countries, we have to keep our national security in mind.

Referring to China, he said that we will continue to encourage our people for self-reliance and self-reliance.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said, “Although we have not stopped people from working with China, but if there is an Indian option available, you should give it priority.” This is good for national security as well as our business.

The minister also said, “If there is a breach of peace in the border areas, and someone has entered your area, will you do business with him?”
