London: An Indian -origin taxi driver, who has been living in Ireland for 23 years, has been attacked without any provocation in the capital Dublin. The attackers shouted and told the victim that ‘go back to your country.’ The local police have started investigating the attack. Victim Lakhveer Singh (40) told the local media that he made two youths under the age of 20 in a taxi on Friday night and left the popantry located in Dublin’s Beliman suburb. According to Singh, after reaching the destination, the two youths opened the car door and hit their head twice with a bottle. He told that the suspects shouted while running and said, “Go back to your country.”
What did Lakhveer Singh say?
Lakhveer Singh said to ‘Dublin Live’, “I have never seen anything like this in the last 10 years. I am very scared now and have stopped running the taxi at this time. It will be difficult to return to the road again. My children are also scared. ”A spokesman for Dublin Police said that Singh has been admitted to Buomont Hospital. However, their injuries are not of serious nature. “On the night of August 1, 2025, at around 11:45 pm, a taxi driver was reported on an attack on a taxi driver, which is under investigation,” a police spokesman said. The 40 -year -old victim has been admitted to Buomont Hospital for treatment. ”
Indian Embassy issued advisory
The incident occurred immediately after the consultation issued by the Indian Embassy on Friday, which advised Indian citizens to be vigilant in view of the recent attacks around the capital Dublin. The embassy had said, “In recent times, the incidents of attack on Indian citizens in Ireland have increased. We are in touch with the local administration and all citizens are advised to be vigilant about their safety and especially in alone and deserted areas, do not get out late at night.”
There have been attacks before
Prior to this incident, a 40 -year -old Indian citizen was attacked in Talgat area of Dublin on 19 July. In protest against the incident, the Pravasi Indian community also organized a demonstration called ‘Stand Against Rasism’. Artificial Medha (AI) expert Dr. Santosh Yadav shared information about a “barbaric, racial attack” on ‘LinkedIn’ last week. He had told that one day when he was going towards his apartment, six teenagers attacked him from behind. Yadav said, “This is not an alone incident. In Dublin, racial attacks on Indians and other minorities are increasing. The government is silent, no strict steps are being taken.”
Indians are giving important services
Baby Parappadon, the Fine Gayle Party councilor from Talgat South, also expressed concern over the incident. He said, “People should understand that most Indians have come on work permits in Ireland and work in areas such as health care or information technology.” They are offering important services for the country. ”
