The Indian Army on Tuesday shared a 1971 newspaper cutting and targeted the US. It shows that America was giving weapons to Pakistan in preparation for the 1971 war.

The Eastern Command of the Army wrote in the X post- ‘On this day, that year, the preparation of the war 05 August 1971, learn the fact. Since 1954, US weapons worth $ 2 billion have been sent to Pakistan.

This post of the Indian Army came a day after US President Donald Trump threatened to put more tariffs on India. Trump said on Monday- India is buying cheap oil from Russia and selling it in the open market with profits. I will increase the tariffs on India hugely.

Pakistan fought with US-China weapons in 1971 war with India

The report of the newspaper of 5 August 1971 mentions the statement of the then Defense Production Minister VC Shukla. He had told the Rajya Sabha that talks were held with NATO countries and the Soviet Union on the issue of giving weapons to Pakistan.

The report also stated that the Soviet Union and France refused to give weapons to Pakistan, but the US continued support. Both the US and China sold weapons to Pakistan at very affordable prices. This makes it clear that Pakistan fought the 1971 war against India with weapons from these countries.

US President Trump on Monday threatened to put ‘more tariffs’ on India, after which India openly responded to the name of America for the first time. Donald Trump wrote on social media on Monday that India does not care how many people are being killed in Russia’s attack. Therefore, I am going to increase the tariff on India.

In response to this, India released an export data from Russia to the United States and European Union (EU), saying, “The US continues to import uranium hexafloride from Russia, Paladium, fertilizer and chemicals for EV industry from Russia. The same situation is with EU. In such a situation, targeting India is unfair and irrational.
