Indian Navy will get this warship of Russia
In view of the increasing tension with Pakistan after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Navy is ready to strengthen its marine strength by including its second advanced warship – INS Tamal. According to the report, this frigate of 3,900 tonnes built in Russia’s famous Yantar Shipyard is expected to be officially handed over to India in Leningrad within a month. The first warship of the delivery series was after the success of INS Tursh, which was commissioned by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh during his visit to Russia on 9 December 2024.
Equipped with modern weapons
The acquisition of these frigates is part of a comprehensive India-Russian defense agreement signed in October 2016, under which India committed to buy four advanced Cravak-III category frigates. The first two, including INS Tamal, are being purchased from Russia for about Rs 8,000 crore. The remaining two- Triput and Tawasya, are under construction in Goa Shipyard Limited through Technology Transfer deal, which costs around Rs 13,000 crore. These state-of-the-art frigates are designed for broad blue-warder operation and are equipped with a series of modern weapons systems. They are capable of operating missions in all four regions of the naval war.
The main features of INS Tamal
INS Tamal is capable of walking at a speed of 30 knots (about 55 km/h). Along with this, an INS is capable of protecting and monitoring the borders every 3 thousand kilometers. Please tell that the name of Tamal means sword. This refers to the aggressive and strategic growth of the ship. Currently INS Tamal has completed its tests and is undergoing many other tests in Russia. After this phase, the process of delivery of this frigate will proceed. Please tell that INS Tamal is a wonderful frigate. It also includes BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and surface -to -air missile system. Apart from this, the ship is also equipped with anti -submarine torpedo and rocket launcher for underwater war.
