Indian team leaves for Men's Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2024 to be held in Muscat

-India will start its campaign against Thailand on 27th November.

Bengaluru, 22 November (Hindustan Reporter). The Indian junior men’s hockey team departed from Bengaluru on Friday for the Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2024 to be held in Muscat, Oman from November 26 to December 4. The Indian team has won this tournament a record four times in 2004, 2008, 2015 and 2023. India won the title last year by defeating rivals Pakistan 2-1 in the final.

This time 10 teams are participating in the competition. India have been placed in Pool A along with Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei and Thailand while the remaining five teams in Pool B are Pakistan, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Oman and China. The Indian team, led by captain Aamir Ali and vice-captain Rohit, will start its campaign against Thailand on November 27. After that there will be a match against Japan on 28th November. There will be a match against Chinese Taipei on November 30 and against Korea on December 1.

Captain Aamir Ali said in a statement issued by Hockey India that as the captain of the Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team, I am very excited for the Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2024. We are ready to face the challenges ahead. We all understand the importance of this tournament and the opportunity to showcase our skills on the big stage. Our focus is on giving our best from the first match and securing a strong position to make it to the finals.

Vice captain Rohit said that we are all very eager to start our campaign in the Men’s Junior Asia Cup. We are determined to work hard, stay disciplined and perform to our full potential in every match.
