Shubhanshu shukla space mission: The moment and pride of India is going to come around the world. Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is ready to go into space on the AX-4 mission of Axiom Space. With this mission, India is going to re -step into the human space flight. Shubhanshu Shukla will leave for the space station at 5:52 pm Indian time on the evening of 10 June. Will join the International Space Station (ISS) on 11 June 2025. This mission by Shubhanshu Shukla reminds of Rakesh Sharma’s historic visit of 1984, when Rakesh Sharma along with the Soviet Union went to space. Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian to go to space.
Shubhanshu has taken special training
Shubhanshu Shukla is a group captain in the Indian Air Force and is one of the four astronauts of the Gaganyaan program. Shukla was selected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the AX-4 mission during a visit to America in the year 2023. This mission reflects cooperation between India and NASA. Shubhanshu has also taken special training from SpaceX and Axiom Space.
The crew rehearsal before the flight
Shubhanshu Shukla and his team have made full preparations for the launch. The AX-4 crew and SpaceX teams have done a complete rehearsal before the launch. During this, a static fire test of Falcon 9 rocket was also done. The rocket is examined by a static fire test. The AX-4 mission will be launched from Florida on 10 June. It will fly from the NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

The AX-4 Mission is the 53rd Dragon Mission of SpaceX, which is the 15th Human Space Mission. Apart from Shubhanshu Shukla, there are three other astronauts in this mission. Commander Pegi Whitson (US), Mission Specialist Slavos Ujnanski (Poland) and Mission Specialist Tibor Kapu (Hungary). The mission was first to be started on 8 June but due to bad weather and preparations for spacecraft, it was made to 10 June. Teams of NASA and SpaceX said that this change has been done keeping in mind the transport process of weather, Falcon 9 rockets and dragon spacecraft.
Many experiments will also do Shubhanshu
India has spent around Rs 548 crore on this mission so far. This includes the launch of Shubhanshu Shukla and his backup group Captain Prashant Nair. Shubhanshu will also do many experiments after arriving at the international space station. Most of these will be biological experiments such as the effect of subtle gravity on the seeds of plants and the human body.

40 -year -old group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla belongs to Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. He has two elder sisters in his house besides his parents. One is a teacher in Lucknow and the other lives in Delhi. Shubhanshu Shukla has studied from Aliganj branch of City Montessori School in Lucknow to XII. His father’s name is Shambhu Dayal Shukla and mother’s name is Asha Shukla. Inspired by the 1999 Kargil war, he took the National Defense Academy (NDA) examination and was successful. After graduating from NDA in 2005, he received a commission in the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot in June 2006.
Shubhanshu’s career in Air Force
Shubhanshu Shukla is an experienced Test pilot and Combat Leader, who has experience of more than 2,000 hours of flight on various aircraft. He has blown SU-30 MKI, MIG-21, MIG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Dornier 228 and AN-32. He received the post of Wing Commander in 2019 and Group Captain in March 2024. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) selected Shubhanshu Shukla in 2019 for India’s first human space mission ‘Gaganyaan’. He has received one year rigorous training at Yuri Gagarin Cosmonott Training Center in Russia.
What did Shubhanshu Shukla say?
Regarding the mission, Shubhanshu Shukla said, ‘Initially my dream was to fly but the path to become astronauts opened later. I consider myself extremely lucky that I got an opportunity to fly flying for my life and then I got an opportunity to become an astronaut and I am here today. ‘
