Indian women’s handball team announced for Asian Games, Jyoti Shukla will be the captain


Shiva Singh and Tejaswini Singh of Uttar Pradesh also included in the Indian team
Lucknow, 19 September (HS). The Indian women’s handball team has been announced for the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8. Jyoti Shukla of Indian Railways and Diksha Kumari of Himachal Pradesh have been made the vice-captain of the women’s handball team. Shiva Singh and Tejaswini Singh of Uttar Pradesh have also been selected.
The Indian team will leave from Lucknow for Delhi on Tuesday. The team from Delhi will leave for Hangzhou on September 20. After the completion of the team camp organized at Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Indoor Stadium in Ayodhya, before the departure, the farewell ceremony of the Indian team was held in a private hotel in Lucknow. In this function, the chief guest, President of Uttar Pradesh Handball Association and Chancellor of BBD University, Alka Das, congratulated the players for their best performance in the tournament.
Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association President Viraj Sagar Das, in his message sent on this occasion, wished the players selected in the Indian women’s handball team all the best for the Asian Games.
Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey, Executive Director of Handball Association India, said that rigorous exercises have been conducted in the camp to improve the technique, endurance, stamina and speed of the game. I am confident that the Indian team will perform well here. He told that the Indian women’s handball team has got a place in Group B of the preliminary round in the Asian Games. Along with India, China, Japan, Nepal and Hong Kong China have got place in this group. The Indian team will start its campaign against Japan on 25th September. After this, the Indian team will face Hong Kong China on 27 September, China on 29 September and Nepal on 30 September.
