Indian women's team announced for ODI series against New Zealand, four uncapped players get a chance

New Delhi, 17 October (Hindustan Reporter). The Indian women’s cricket team has been announced for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting next week. Four uncapped players have got a chance in the team while three senior teammates Richa Ghosh, Asha Shobhana and Pooja Vastrakar will be out of the series.

The BCCI Women’s Selection Committee has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand. Despite the poor performance in the Women’s World Cup, the selectors have expressed confidence in Harmanpreet Kaur and have given her the command of the team. Whereas, Smriti Mandhana will be the vice-captain of the team. The role of wicketkeeper will be played by either Yastika Bhatia or Uma Chhetri.

Apart from Uma Chhetri, Tejal Hasbanis, Saima Thakor and Priya Mishra have been included in the team for the first time. At the same time, three senior players are out of the team, among them Richa Ghosh has left the team because of appearing for the 12th board exam. While Asha Sobhana is out of the team due to injury. Pooja Vastrakar has been rested for the series.

1) 24 October 2024 – Thursday – 1.30 pm – Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

2) 27 October 2024 – Sunday – 1.30 PM – Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

3) 29 October 2024 – Tuesday – 1.30 pm – Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
