India Another plant has become ready to make iPhone. Karnataka Commerce and Industry Minister MB Patil has given this information. He said that the unit of Taiwan’s electronics manufacturing company Foxconn is almost ready for the unit operations located in Devanhalli’s Information Technology Investment Sector (ITIR). He hoped that the commercial supply of the iPhone would begin in the beginning of June. Foxconn performs the iPhone manufacturing on contract.
Milestone in manufacturing sector
Patil said on the social media platform ‘X’, “It is not just a milestone in the manufacturing sector, but it reflects a strategic change. With the pressure of geopolitical and tariffs, India is becoming a favorite production center of Apple rapidly.” He said that this development strengthens the status of Karnataka in global manufacturing and opens the gates for more foreign investment without compromising the interests of stakeholders.
Most iPhones sold in America will be made in India
The minister said that Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook has confirmed that most of the iPhones sold in the US for June quarter will be made in India. He said, “As a Kannada person, it is a proud moment for me. From Mysuru to Cupertino, Karnataka is making global headlines.” The company has acquired 300 acres of land in the ITIR industrial area located in Doddaballapura and Devanhalli Taluk in Bangalore rural district.
Apple will continue to invest in India
The iPhone maker Apple has assured the Government of India that there will be no change in their investment schemes for the country. Apple’s commitment has come to light after a public criticism of Apple’s manufacturing presence in India by US President Donald Trump. A report quoted the government formula as saying that there is no change in Apple’s investment schemes in India and the company has assured the Government of India about its commitment to use India as a major manufacturing base.
