Paris: Iran’s Foreign Minister has confirmed that a French-German citizen cyclist has been detained, who disappeared last month. This information has been given in the news published on Friday by French newspaper Lee Monde. The newspaper quoted the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s interview on Thursday as saying that cyclist Lenart Monterlos has been detained for violating the rules. “However, the Foreign Minister, however, did not give any detailed information about the nature of the alleged crime. Araghchi said that the French Embassy in Tehran has been informed about it.

According to the newspaper, Monterlos was riding a bicycle in Iran and there was no information about him from mid -June. The French Foreign Ministry did not confirm the detention, but said he is in touch with the Iranian officials and his family to know the status of his citizen. The French Foreign Ministry has not commented on the issue in view of the safety of the cyclist. He reiterated the earlier warnings that French citizens should not travel to Iran.
