If you travel by Indian Railways, some changes have come into force from July 15. The Railways has taken a big decision to make Tatkal ticket booking transparent and safe. From today onwards, Aadhaar based OTP (One-Time Password) verification has been made necessary for Tatkal ticket booking. This rule will apply to those who book both online and offline tickets. That is, on booking Tatkal tickets through IRCTC website or mobile app, now the passenger will have to enter the OTP sent to the Aadhaar mobile number. This rule is applicable to immediate booking of all categories AC and Non-AA.

According to the news, Tatkal tickets of AC class (1A, 2A, 3A, CC, EC) can be booked from 10:00 am a day before the journey, while Non-AC class (sleeper, second class) Tatkal tickets are booked from 11:00 am a day before.

Aadhaar OTP is also required on ticket booking from counter and agent

After the new rule implemented from Tuesday, now if a passenger books Tatkal tickets through a computerized PRS counter or authorized agent, Aadhaar OTP verification will be necessary. The passenger will have to provide his Aadhaar number and registered mobile number. The ticket will be issued only after OTP verification. To book Tatkal tickets on IRCTC, your profile must be authentic from Aadhaar. If this does not happen, you will not be able to book tickets.
