Is Digvesh Rathi’s magic ended? Wicket is a bowler in DPL and beating fiercely
Digvesh Rathi, the spinner of Lucknow Super Giants, who made a boom in IPL 2025, has been badly flopped in the Delhi Premier League (DPL 2025). Rathi, who made headlines due to his unique wicket celebrations, remained during IPL 2025 and he was fined several times due to his signature celebrations but when he did not agree with the fine, he had to face a match ban.
Digvesh bowled brilliantly for Lucknow in IPL 2025, taking 14 wickets at an average of 30.64 and his economy stood at 8.22. About 12 months ago, Digvesh did nothing special. He did not even make his debut for Delhi. In August 2024, he got a chance in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) and not only proved to be the best bowler of South Delhi Superstars, but also proved to be one of the league’s best performing bowlers.
This was the reason that LSG bought him for Rs 30 lakh in the IPL 2025 auction. However, after making the headlines in IPL 2025, he was expected to perform well in the second season of DPL, but in the two matches played so far, he has proved to be faded and fans are raising questions that perhaps his magic is over.
In the DPL 2025 season, Digvesh has played only 2 matches and his captain Ayush Badoni has not allowed him to complete his overs even once. He has given 57 runs in 5 overs and has not taken a single wicket yet. On August 2, against the East Delhi Riders, he started well. After giving 1 run in their first over, Anuj Rawat and Hardik Sharma scored 23 runs in their second over (12th). After this, Badoni did not give him the ball in the match till the last ball.
After this, while playing against West Delhi Lions, Digvesh did not fulfill his bowling quota again. This time, he looted 33 runs in 3 overs and in this match he was seen craving for the wicket. At present, after two matches, Digvesh will be hopeful that his form in DPL 2025 will return soon as LSG will also keep a close watch on him.
