Israel–Lebanon War: A water project on the outskirts of the south-eastern Lebanese city of Shebaa was destroyed in an Israeli air strike. Sources in Sheba Municipality told Xinhua news agency that on Saturday, an Israeli warplane fired a missile at the main exit of ‘Al-Maghara’ water project.

The project provides drinking water to dozens of villages and towns in the Al-Arkoub, Hasbaya and Marjeyoun areas of southern Lebanon. Sources said, "Due to the attack, there was an explosion in the main exit of the project, due to which the water supplied to the villages started flowing out." Meanwhile, the South Lebanon Water Establishment (SLWE) said on Saturday that the project had suffered serious damage due to Israeli shelling.

Water problem arose

The municipalities of Al-Arqoob and Hasbaya issued a statement saying, "We appeal to government agencies, international institutions and UNIFIL forces to take immediate action to repair the damage caused by the Israeli attack on the drinking water project, so that more than 2,000 families can access water." The Israeli army has not yet commented on the attack.

Headquarters Command Center was targeted

On Saturday itself, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that its air force, based on accurate intelligence, attacked Hezbollah’s weapons warehouse and intelligence headquarters command center in the Daheeh suburb of Beirut. It said, ‘The attack is part of efforts to damage Hezbollah’s weapons stores and manufacturing units under residential buildings in the center of Beirut, putting the population in the area at risk.’

Since September 23, the Israeli army has been carrying out large-scale air strikes on Lebanon. The Jewish State also launched a ‘limited’ grassroots campaign. The purpose of these attacks is reportedly to reduce Hezbollah’s capabilities. So far, a large number of senior commanders of the group, including Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah, have been killed in Israeli attacks.
