Dubai: Tehran’s nuclear bases have suffered greatly damage to the US attack on 3 nuclear sites in Iran. Iran has now accepted this thing itself. According to an AP report, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai on Wednesday confirmed that the country’s nuclear bases had suffered serious damage in the last week’s attacks.
In a statement to Al Jazira, Baghai refused to give more details of the attacks, but admitted that the attacks of bunker-bombs bombs carried out by American B-2 bombers on Sunday were “quite impressive”. He said, “Our atomic bases have suffered severe damage, there is no doubt.”
Why did America attack?
The US attacked three major nuclear centers in Iran on Sunday. These include the names of Natanz, Fordo and Isfahan. The purpose of these attacks was to destroy Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reports and satellite data had estimated the seriousness of these attacks. But Iran had been denying the damage to nuclear bases due to the US attack till now. But now Iran itself has admitted that its nuclear bases have been damaged in American attacks.
America attacked these nuclear centers
Nattanj nuclear facility
It was Iran’s main uranium enhancement center, which has suffered a major setback from the US attack. The atomic hideout is located 220 km south-east of Tehran in the central plateau of Iran. Natanj Nuclear Center is the major uranium enrichment center of Iran. Hundreds of centrifuge cascades were employed in underground structures, which could enhance uranium up to 60% and which is only slightly below the weapon-grade level.
Ford Atomic Facilitation Center
It is located about 100 km south-west of Tehran. Fordo is a small, but Iran’s strategic nuclear facility center. Iran informed IAEA in 2009 about this site, which started in 2007, was identified by American and Western intelligence agencies. This site is located below the mountain and is designed to protect it especially from air strikes. The US claimed to destroy this hideout using GBU-57A/B ‘Massive Ordnance Penetrator’ bomb. The US bomb weighs about 30,000 pounds and has the ability to explode by entering several meters depths. It was dropped by a B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber on the nuclear site.
Isfahan nuclear facility
Isfahan Nuclear Center is located 350 km south-east from Tehran. It is also a major scientific and research center in Iran’s nuclear program. Thousands of scientists are employed here and include three Chinese research reactors, uranium conversion plants (UCF), and several laboratories. The location was recently attacked by Israel, in which uranium conversion facility was targeted. The US also attacked this nuclear center from the B-2 bomber. (AP)
