Jaishankar meets Chinese Vice President Han Zheng

Beijing: India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is on a tour of China. Jaishankar has met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing. During the meeting, Jaishankar told Han Zheng that the continuous normal India-China relations can lead to beneficial results. Given the complex global situation, open exchange of ideas between the two neighboring countries is very important. The Foreign Minister has talked to Zheng shortly after reaching Beijing from Singapore in the second and final phase of his two countries.
What did Jaishankar say?
In his initial statement in the meeting, Jaishankar said, “Our bilateral relations have been continuously improving since the meeting of Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping in Kazan in October last year.” He said, “I am confident that my discussions will move in this positive direction in this journey.” The Foreign Minister also mentioned the 75th anniversary of the establishment of India-China code. He said, “The restoration of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is also being widely appreciated in India.”

Jaishankar said, “The international situation we are meeting today is very complicated. As neighboring countries and major economies, open exchange of ideas and perspectives between India and China is very important. “He said,” I hope for such discussions during the visit. “The Foreign Minister said in a post on social media that he expressed India’s support for SCO’s chairmanship in a conversation with Vice President Zheng. He said, “Took cognizance of improvement in our bilateral relations and expressed confidence that the conversation during my visit would move forward in a positive direction.”
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visits China
Less than three weeks before Jaishankar’s visit, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh traveled to the Chinese port city Kingdao to attend the conference of Defense Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan (SCO). China is the current president of the Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan and hence is hosting the meetings of this group.
Jaishankar’s first visit to China after Galwan
Let me tell you that Jaishankar is visiting China to attend the conference of Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the Chinese city of Tianjin. This is Jaishankar’s first visit to China after the military deadlock in 2020 on the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh and after the serious tension in the relationship between the two countries. In the last few months, India and China have initiated several measures to improve bilateral relations, which in June 2020 had severely deteriorated after clashes between the two armies.
