Beijing: India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will take part in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to be held in Tianjin city of China next week. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has confirmed this on Saturday. This will be Jaishankar’s first Beijing visit after a violent military clash with Chinese troops in Ladakh in June 2020.

When will SCO meet

According to a spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, a meeting of SCO Foreign Ministers will be held on 15 July in Tianjin. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi will host this meeting. In this, the foreign ministers of all member countries and prominent parts of the permanent bodies of the organization will take part. The meeting will exchange ideas on SCO cooperation and major international and regional issues in various fields. “

How many member countries are in SCO?

The SCO consists of 10 member countries. These include India, China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus.

India may have bilateral talks with China

According to reports, Jaishankar can reach Beijing on 13 July, where he is also likely to have bilateral talks with Wang Yi. Jaishankar’s visit is taking place at a time when relations between India and China have been very tense after the 2020 military deadlock in Eastern Ladakh. The dialogue may include issues such as stress reduction on LAC (Line of Actual Control), China’s ban on export of vital metals, bilateral trade and strategic cooperation, re -activating the mechanism for resolving border disputes.

Rajnath visited China last month

Prior to this visit of Jaishankar, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also visited China last month. He attended a meeting of SCO defense ministers in Chingdao, China in June. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has also visited China. In these meetings, India demanded China a “roadmap to resolve complex issues”, which emphasized the border tension reduction and re -activating the demarcation process.

China’s foreign minister will also come to India

There are indications that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi may also visit India this month, where he can meet Doval under SR (Special Representative) level border talks. The two countries have so far held special representatives of 23 rounds, but so far no concrete solution has been found. Currently China is the president of the SCO and in the same position he is hosting various meetings of the organization. (Language)
